Building Leadership Capacity in the Arts

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

5:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.

DiverseWorks Artspace | 1117 East Freeway | Houston, Texas, 77002

About Creative Conversations:

Kicking off National Arts & Humanities Month in October 2009,Creative Conversations are local gatherings of emerging leaders in communities across the country and are part of a grassroots movement to elevate the profile of arts in America. Started in 2004, some of these local convenings have grown into cohesive, organized emerging leader networks. This local tool empowers emerging leaders to take a leadership role in their own community by both designing programming and galvanizing their peers to connect professionally.

Panelist:

Join us as we hear from a distinguished panel of veteran arts administrators including:

Janette Cosley  |  Executive Director  |  The Ensemble Theatre

Juan Esquivel  |  Executive Director  |  Talento Bilingue de Houston

Karen Farber  |  Executive Director  |  UH Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts

Rich Levy  |  Excutive Director  |  Inprint Houston

Moderator: Jerome Vielman  |  Programs & Services Manager  |  Houston Arts Alliance

This cross-generational panel of arts administrators will discuss how to build leadership capacity with regard to skills, risk taking, innovation and entrepreneurship given the impending generational transitions in artistic leadership, professional staff, board and philanthropic leadership. Following the panel discussion, all are invited to participate in a networking reception.
